I had shoulder surgery last November at the Port Jefferson Surgery Center. I have medical coverage thru Medicare and my secondary is Empire BSBC. I received a bill for $463.10. I paid the bill because that is what I do but had I known that is how much the surgery would cost, I would have opted to go to a hospital. I have questioned the bill with no real results. My advice is to ask what your copay will be before you agree to surgery there. I have had other surgeries in surgery centers with a $15 copay.
