2026-02-03 closed! Can't enter parking lot, dangerous road (nonstop cars, sat for 15min trying to get out). Mostly a good exercise hike. Rainier is visible on clear days. November downed trees have been removed from the trail, just one small one to step over.
Not for the faint of heart lol. Bring sticks. And a pack. 1800 ft elevation. I only made it half way, but some people out there doing it like a morning stroll.
Let’s be honest. Beginners should think twice before attempting this hike. While the distance itself is short, the elevation gain is no joke and can be challenging if you are new to hiking. We went during the last week of January, and the trail was slushy in several sections, which made the climb even more demanding. This is one hike where having the right gear truly matters.
