My friend and I gave place to be properties two chances. The first time, an agent tried to get us to deposit $300 for an apartment that he did not want us to see in person, only through the virtual tour. He was actually very reluctant to show us any apartment in person. When we finally visited the place, we soon found out why. The apartment complex was disgusting and outdated. It's easy enough to find a place that looks like it'll be okay to live at, but it can be difficult to find landlords who will care about you as a human being. Place to Be has responded to every single request of mine in a timely manner and far exceeded my expectations. I have treated them with respect and they have treated me with it in return. Careful when you move out. Somehow I racked up about $600 in moveout charges that I didn't know about until a debt collector started calling eight months later. She told me that Place to Be had faxed them (to my cell phone number) and mailed them to the apartment I vacated before siccing the agency on me. PTB must have also given them all my contact info, because the debt collector called my emergency contact (my mother) and explained the whole situation before attempting to make contact with me. There's been an animal stuck in my chimney for 10 days and place to be doesn't seem interested in helping me remove it, they just keep ignoring me. I'll be happy to update my review when/if they ever make an effort to correct this urgent issue.
The apartments are maintained well and are conveniently located. The workers in the office tend to all say something different though, so do your best to stick with one representative and get anything they say in writing. Maintenance emergencies are treated quickly most of the time. Stephanie is a great representative- I would recommend her.
