About this business
Actually, Piper Brothers Grocery opened in Chariton in 1903, just to the northwest of the town square. Only two years later, in 1905, Joe L. Piper bought the Stanley building on the northeast corner of the square where Piper's has been ever since. Joe L. and his family expanded the business to include a bakery and slaughterhouse, and from all accounts it was considered the premiere grocery store in town. Piper's is a historical institution in Chariton. I have many fond memories when Bob Piper was operating the store. My sister, Jill Kerns continues that tradition of providing quality products, friendly service and a deep involvement in the community. Check it out, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by what you find!
We received a box of Piper's Candy for Grandparents Day. What a treat!!
Absolutely awesome products, with a heck of an atmosphere, and vintage customer care.
Grew up loving this candy and it's still every bit as good.
