Actually, Piper Brothers Grocery opened in Chariton in 1903, just to the northwest of the town square. Only two years later, in 1905, Joe L. Piper bought the Stanley building on the northeast corner of the square where Piper's has been ever since. Joe L. and his family expanded the business to include a bakery and slaughterhouse, and from all accounts it was considered the premiere grocery store in town. Yummy handmade chocolates ! As a child, I always loved going in and selecting my favorite varieties of Jolly Ranchers: watermelon, sour apple, grape, and cherry. they have always had great staff working there! Thanks, Jill Kerns for carrying on the tradition!

Thank you to Piper’s Candy for providing our Best Trunk and Best Costume prizes for United Trinity Parish and First Baptist Church of Humeston’s event on Beggar’s night. We had over 200 kids. Mr. Steve Paugh and Carla Paugh and Mrs. Karey Palmer won boxed chocolates and Halloween handmade candies from your store.
