Lifelong Alaskan here- stayed at Pike’s for the first time (can’t believe I waited that long). We were very impressed with the charm, hospitality, care, and thoughtfulness of the employees and property. We all had fun (including our teenage son and two dogs). The property is the best I have seen in Alaska… it had history, themed areas (you have to see for yourself), location, price, and just overall fun enthusiasm! I would stay there every time!
They’ve really done a great job at keeping the place up. For an aged property it’s been maintained well. The only keeping me from giving 5 Stars is the staff. They were good enough to get the job done, but don’t seem too happy to be there. One front desk girl was more interested in chatting it up with her boyfriend who also works there and the other girl was just okay. Neither of them welcomed us at check in.
I like the way Pikes incorporates Alaskan art and I have enjoyed viewing it each time I am here.

Pike's Waterfront Lodge is often named as the best hotel in Fairbanks. I beg to differ. The beds have rubber covers under the sheets. Bathroom is so small that the toilet paper dispenser is under your armpit. There's room for only one suitcase to be open. The so-called Aurora package is a mystery, besides some socks, a bag, and a magnet I don't know what it was. The Aurora viewing area is a joke.
