This famous fish market is one of the most well-known spots in Seattle where you can watch fishermen and sellers throw fish through the air. The fish and shellfish are fresh, displayed in crushed ice all around the counter. The stand sells wild salmon, yellow fin tuna, halibut, crab, prawns and more. You can simply browse or buy some to go, most fishmongers will ship it anywhere. Go for the show I love Pike's Place and there really isn't anything like it in San Diego. I never have actually purchased anything at this market but I still go by it every time I visit Seattle. It's always fun. The guys who work enjoy what they do and they put on quite a show throwing the fish around.
Awesome Display - Like a Show!! Best fish market ANYWHERE! This is the place to go not only for the fresh Seattle fish, purchased on the famous Pike St., but you go there for the entertainment! When you first walk up you may notice a crown around what appears to be a typical outdoor seafood market. There is shouting back and forth between the staff as they communicate with one another from across the market. Then you see it - flying fish! Really - the very entertaining staff throws your fresh (maybe slimy?) fish across the m... read more
fun experience for seafood shoppers This is a nice place in Pike Place Market to bring tourists to. The seafood selection is interesting to browse, and the must-see is the fish throwing show put up by the guys who work there. Since they are at the prime location (just next to the Pike Place pig statue at the entrance), they are guaranteed a crowd. The seafood quality is ok but the price is pretty high. PROS: fun place to be CONS: expensive
Pike Place Fish Market I just love to shop at the Pike Place Fish Market. It's located right through the main entrance to Pike Place Market which is actually quite famous and have been shown on tv and the movies. They sell yellow fin tuna, salmon, halibut, prawns, crab. Everything is fresh and displayed in crushed ice all around the counter. It's a lot of fun to shop there.
flying fish This particular fish place in the Pike Place Market is most noteworthy as a tourist attraction that's probably worth visiting even if you aren't buying fish (which is of course very good here too). There is often a crowd of people gathered by their shop watching them throw the big fish through the air to each other. It's an interesting place with friendly staff.
