We had a great experience at this PCH ER. Our toddler came in with lethargy, a fever and vomiting. Our nurse, Sydney, was very kind and patient and did her best to make our son comfortable. She was also kind and patient with a colleague who seemed new/learning. Our doctor, Anthony Pickett, was fantastic. He was thorough, warm, informative, and spent his time doing a full work up and explaining things to us. Our wait was fast and we felt attended to the whole time! The facility was also very clean.
Waited in the lobby and room for over 3 hours just to be told “we can’t do anything for this in the ER. We don’t have the tools. We knew you were here and was referred here, but this is a job for our ENT office. Schedule with them in the next day or two.” Definitely don’t go to this location. My friends and coworkers said they had good experiences with the Thomas location, but definitely would go to Mayo or Honor Health.
My family and I had just arrived in town after driving from Virginia when my 6-week-old son developed a fever of 100.4°F. I am extremely disappointed with our recent experience at the Arrowhead Phoenix Children's Hospital Emergency Department. I want to begin by acknowledging that the nursing staff was kind, compassionate, and reassuring throughout our visit. We had two terrible experiences with this hospital's Emergency Room. The first time, about a year ago, we rushed here because our child was having an anaphylactic reaction. His face was swelling, and he was having difficulty breathing. Even though this was a medical emergency, it took over an hour before he finally received an EpiPen (adrenaline) injection.
