Security is beyond rude, told me I needed a newer truck to work there the first time I came in. This particular refinery has been hiring anti-union companies (Universal Plant Services, as an example) for a while now, who are full of workers who are actually illiterate in the English language. The workers they bring in, conveniently don't care about asbestos or lead (of which there is plenty here) and the foremen will throw a fit if you raise a safety concern regarding those substances. I feel for the citizens who live there and have to breathe this in every day. Sure it may be pretty to some at night from the highway, but it is not pretty when you live there and you see an oil tank from your own backyard. Driving down 4th street, there's a row of houses and oil tanks in sight at the end of the street. What an eyesore to those homeowners. In my opinion, there's shouldn't even be residences on the south side of 143; not only is it not aesthetic, it cannot be healthy to breathe in those toxins daily. There's ... read more
