Dr. Tapon was incredibly thorough and personable. He was the first psychiatrist I’ve been to who didn’t just want to push meds first in a 15-30 minute appointment but really implemented a lot of talk therapy our first visit to get to know me and my background. I work in healthcare and found Dr. Tapon very knowledgeable about pharmacology, pathology, and of course, his field of psychiatry. He struck me as a physician genuinely dedicated to achieving the best outcome for his patients.
In just a few sessions this man made wildly inappropriate remarks, asked for completely irrelevant sexual details about my life, attempted to groom me by making me contact him every week before giving me medication. After the first inappropriate comment, I convinced myself it was probably fine because this psychiatrist was thorough which seemed to be a breath of fresh air, however, he was thorough for unprofessional reasons. ESPECIALLY if you’re a woman, don’t go to this guy.
Dr. Philippe Tapon may maintain a semblance of talent, but that's probably an overestimation on my part. I was admitted to Illinois Masonic based on episodes of supra ventricular tachycardia, for which I was later released on the assumption that I was abusing my medication with exemption of previous questioning. As a psychiatrist, Dr. Tapon's first step should have been to establish trust with his patient, but rather abided by the later proven false assumption of medical students, which were assigned to my low priority case.... read more
