I am a master certified L1 automotive technician. I have a hobby of fixing up old Honda Goldwing’s that have an obsolete vacuum advance that commonly has a failed diaphragm. I commissioned Tony to repair the vacuum advance. He said it would be done in a week. The next day (a Saturday), he called and said it was done. When I picked it up we had a pleasant lengthy conversation and a tour of the nearly 100 years accumulation of massively disorganized “stuff”. A very important lesson was relearned here, it only cost me $120. If Tony, the owner of Philbin's was once on his game, sadly he is no longer. I asked him to look at my newish GM HEI distributor for my Small Block Chevy Engine. I told him that I did not want to spend money on it if it could not be adjusted for the needs of my Engine. He said he had the advance weights and center in stock that I requested & were needed to adjust the curve profile. I will never go back. I had used Philbin for over 30 years with no problems. Recently I have taken both an alternator and a distributor to them for basic service and ended up taking them to somebody else because neither if them worked properly when they were returned to me. I returned the distributor and was told that there was nothing wrong with it however they never even looked at it.
