I had a new AC installed in my house and replaced the furnace and water heater for $10,000. However, the thermostat is still the old one that came with the house. I thought a new thermostat would be included with the AC installation, but it wasn't. When the AC wouldn't turn off in auto mode after a week, I called the company, and they said they'd send someone to check it out.
