I sought 5 second opinions when I was told I needed surgery. What differentiated Dr. Derman was he explained all the options, their pros and cons then made his suggestion. He was very patient, great bedside manner and at the end of the appointment it felt like he partnered with me and wasn’t just the surgeon who would do the procedure. My recovery was faster than I expected, thanks to PT. And now I can sleep, exercise, bend without pain or fear of pain. Thanks Dr. Derman!
Dr Derman recently performed a minimally invasive procedure for my neurodegenerative disc disease. My pain is completely gone. I am a surgeon and know when I have found a very talented doctor. Dr Derman is an amazing surgeon and person. His bedside manner is second to none. His office staff were caring and worked with me to get the procedure accomplished promptly. I wish I could give him more than 5 stars.
As an ER physician, I see many patients with radicular nerve pain both from cervical and lumbar spine disease. I never fully appreciated the incapacitating level of pain until I developed cervical (C6) symptoms. I finally relented to surgery, and I am very glad that I chose Dr. Derman and the minimally invasive posterior surgery. Please read this!! I have 3 words for you. Just do it. This man will take care of you. And let me tell you why. I am 24 years old and have had severe sciatic pain for the last 2 and a half years going down my right leg.
