A nice place to find pet items I go here on occassion to find certain toys for my dog and bird. They always seem to have what I'm looking for at a good price. My kid's enjoy it because they like to look at the fish and see who has brought the dog's to the store. Very helpful staff who know's pets and what they need.
Dead Animal Extreme neglect to animals. Last night I watched a rat in one cage die. An employee had just provided two bowls of water(at my request). About 15 rats drank thirstily as the water bottle had been malfunctioning for who knows how long. I photographed the very dehydrated dead rat. I had to make myself go back tonight to check on rodents, thinking employees might have been alerted to problem. I found water bowls were almost empty and very dirty. buy fish elswhere I have been to Pet Supplies Plus several times. The staff is always too busy to help you. They are not knowledgeable about fish or reptiles. The fish tanks are appalling; the tanks are dirty and there were numerous dead fish left in the tanks for an extended period of time. I really wish that we had a PetSmart in Tuscaloosa.
Service with Sarcasim This place will most likely have the things you need. But dont depend on the knowledge of the staff.. or their willingness to help you. They will help you spend your money with happyness and the next time you return be a ass. I had spent around $3,000 on diffrent things within about 6 months. Great place for supplies, not so for pets I purchased two mice from Pet Supplies Plus and was assured that they were both female. After a couple of weeks, I noticed the obvious differences between the two and realized I was the new owner of a male and female. I tried to take them back (not for money, but just to find them another home) and I was rudely told that they couldn't do anything about it and basically "good luck." This place has great supplies but the staff isn't very knowledgeable or friendly.
Fish had ich, no help. Purchased two clown fish and three snails this weekend. I called the day I received the two clown fish, just informing that one was acting sluggish. I was informed that they'd take note, just in case I had to bring it back. Fast forward less than twenty-four hours. Both clowns are dead, because of ich. so so... This store is okay, as far as selection of supplies, but the employees and pets could go either way. I bought a guinea pig there, and upon getting it home, I noticed it had stuff in its eyes. It lived for a few months, but then died. We got a second guinea pig there, and again, it had gunk in its eyes. We called the store for suggestions/refund and they basically told me there was nothing they could do.
