Head out to this elegant restaurant in the Financial District, for honest Italian fare and an atmosphere that encourages conversation. Inspired by their food travels around Italy, owners Umberto Gibin & Steffan Terje, opened up Barbacco as a relaxed space to enjoy good food and company. Communal tables encourage socialization while a limited number of standard tables cater to those who prefer quieter company. Brick-exposed walls with wooden accents and sleek metallic supporting beams make the delightful dining room. Warm lig... read more

Fabulous northern Italian food and wine – This is the kind of place that really shows some of the best aspects of real Italian fare. Far from your pasta/red sauce americana version, it exhibits high-quality northwest Italian roots. The Piedmont is the country's finest wine region, with elegant nebbiolos leading the way, and the hearty food is the perfect pairing. With a bottle of Langhe neb (decanted on request), I had the beet salad (is there any better wine/food pairing?), followed by the short rib straccoto with celery pu... read more
Updated Cal-Ital in the Financial District – In a modern, too brightly lit dining room with mirrors strategically placed to expand the already-large space, Perbacco treats guests to updated Cal-Ital delicacies. The menu sports a good number of items, including a selection of house-cured meats, grilled Monterey Bay squid, tempura battered frito misto, and seafood risotto. Desserts include panna cotta, "brutti ma buoni" (ugly but good) Piemontese hazelnut cookies, and dolcetto saboyon. Servers are well-trained and knowledgeabl... read more
AWESOME!! – Just a terrific experience! Great food in both it's conception and presentation, this is a jewel in the financial district that is not to be missed. The staff is attentive and friendly, there are plenty of choices on the menu and an extensive wine menu/full bar will find something for everyone. Leave room for something sweet!
"Perbacco" for Perbacco Restaurant – My family and I dined here for dinner this past weekend for the first time and we all thought it was absolutely WONDERFUL! The service was spectacular, food was superior. The type of food that was served there really coped with the theme of the restaurant. The full experience of the restaurant was there from the very first greeting once we stepped in, to the very last thank yous and goodbyes. The host was EXTREMELY helpful and pleasant. He did not hesitate to help us decide what we would ... read more
An excellent place for a fancy lunch! – My girlfriends and I went out for what we call "Fancy Friday Lunch" - we sat at the bar and got really excellent service from an Irish(?) bartender. The drinks were delicious and they kept them flowing, the meal was just excellent - we had the beet salad and the pan-roasted chicken and a some kind of pasta (ravioli-ish) filled with swiss chard. Great ambience, with exposed red brick on one long wall contrasting with the smooth and soothing colors throughout the rest of the restaurant. ... read more
Exquisite Italian Fine Dining – How can you not give this place 5 stars? It's got to be the best in italian fine dining, without all the uncomfortable chic-ness. You can custom order your courses, so later you won't feel like a heifer after rolling out of there. The cheese dishes are legendary, causing quite a decision for yourself after the first go-through. And dessert can be dramatic, that is, if you order anything "flambe" ... other than wearing something riske, this is a sure way to turn a few heads. And oh yeah, when t... read more
Nice dining destination near the Embarcadero Center area! – A new upscale Italian restaurant located next door to the old Tadich Grill restaurant. Service is professional and attentive. The food is well prepared, European-style portions served in a modern and bright restaurant setting. The restaurant is much larger than it looks from the outside. I've heard that there's also a small mezzanine dining room from which you can see the action in the kitchen. The menu has a selection of crudo (raw fish slices, like Japanese sashim... read more
Wow! – I can't say enough about this place. My friend and I ordered the pear and gorganzola salad and we each ordered a fresh pasta dish and dessert. We couldn't believe how delicious everything was! Our waiter was extremely helpful with recommendations on food and wine. The decor was beautiful. I will definitely be returning!
Yummy New Italian Restaurant – Stumbled upon this place after work with my co-workers and was extremely impressed! It has great selection of crudo and salumi, and I loved the beef short rib stracotto that I ordered. The atmosphere is very classic and elegant, and the service was excellent. I'm so happy it's located right near my work, as I'll definitely be coming back for more!
