I took my truck in for an oil change. They told me I needed brakes and rotors although I wasn't having any brake issues. They gave me a total of over $600. I went somewhere else and was told I had 4 mm of material left and the rotors are fine. I had them replace the front pads anyway to give them the business. Avoid Pep Boys. They are dishonest and crooks.
Beware of alignment scam! On 6/8/2020 I went to the Pep Boys store #1570 to purchase four tires, mounted and balanced, and have a four wheel alignment performed. When I returned to pick up my car everything was fine until I asked for a copy of the printout showing how bad my alignment was. The counter guy went in the back for a moment and upon his return informed me that the tech had not printed a copy of the before or after diagram. On our way from Florida to Tennessee. Found a nail in the tire and the manager at this location offered to plug at no cost. Great customer service and welcoming staff!
When our car broke down on the side of the road and we got our insurance to tow it to pep boys. They replaced the alternator and did not inform us of anything else being wrong with the vehicle whatsoever. (We knew the car had problems, just wasn’t sure what they were.) the vehicle then would not start up once it was turned off again and so we we replaced the battery ourselves.
