PSA: Never rent a moving truck from Budget. We got a quote for a one way rental and were told we’d pay one price plus a $150 refundable deposit since I was using my debit card. When we went to confirm the reservation made by an online chat, the specialist couldn’t find my reservation and we were forced to make a new one on the phone with her. The first initial reservation was never cancelled on their end, resulting in a $50 “no show” fee that we had to fight to get refunded. When we picked up the truck, the man working was chewing on a tooth pick the whole time, had clothes with holes in them, and never told me my grand total, nor could he provide me with any type of receipt. The inside of the truck was filled with sunflower seed shells and the outside was covered in rust. Honestly, I was worried if it would even survive the move from Texas to Arizona because the truck looked like it was flat out falling apart. Yesterday our truck was due and I called to confirm that I could do the late night drop off and the lady said “Yes, and as long as everything is good and there are no damages you’ll get your deposit back.” We dropped off the truck last night, put our keys in the drop box, and I called this morning to make sure everything was okay, only to be told I never paid a deposit and that it was actually a young renters fee that I was charged. I spent an hour on the phone this morning with their 800 number trying to get my money back because I was never told about a young renters fee and the email I have states there was a deposit that I was going to get back. $150 is a lot of money when you’re expecting to get it back and then to find out that you aren’t. The man on the phone kept telling me that, once again, he could not find my reservation so he couldn’t even look it up and figure out what I was charged. I asked to speak to a supervisor and he told he was not available to take my call and assured me that the “escalation department” would call be back within the hour. It’s now officially been 3 hours and I still haven’t gotten a call back and I’m still out my $150. All in all, this was the absolute worst experience I’ve ever had with a moving truck company and I will never rent with them again. I’m still fighting for my money, but I thought I’d at least attempt to save everyone else from the same struggle I’ve been dealing with for the last week. Budget Truck Rental
