My mother had surgery at this hospital. The nurse discharged her at 7:30pm with low oxygen levels.They sent her home with an oxygen tank that only had 4 hours of oxygen left and a phone number to call a company to have another one delivered. The nurse did not confirm my mother's insurance wirh the company before she was discharged. We called the number right when we got home and discovered that number the company did not take her insurance, so they refused to deliver her a tank. I was brought to the ER by EMS for really bad abdominal pain. The doctor had no bedside manners was very condescending and didn’t even introduce himself to me. He did absolutely nothing to help me!! The charge nurse was just as bad. She was rude, disrespectful and condescending! I thought UC health was bad but Penrose is a lot worse!

No one wants to be in the Emergency Department, especially when the news is that your loved one would not make. But Penrose Main is the place you want to be. Everyone from security, nursing staff, house supervisor, physician, physician assistants and everyone else our family encountered, was very professional and caring.
