I am extremely disappointed with the experience I had at my newborn’s first pediatric appointment. Despite this being my baby’s very first visit at just a few days old, we never saw a doctor — only a nurse — even though my baby was healthy and this was meant to be an important initial checkup. The nurse recommended repeating a jaundice test and handed me a paper for blood work with instructions to go to the hospital where my baby was born and present it at the ER.
