About this business
Patterson & Stirling was founded in the 1860s as Patterson Metal Works and manufactured galvanized products such as pails and wash tubs. Patterson's son-in-law joined forces around 1900 and started manufacturing decorative metal ceilings, which were found in most center city retail stores. The company then became known as Patterson & Stirling. The business grew to approximately 80 employees, traveling as far as Florida and the East Coast. We manufactured the first coal furnace in the Erie area through a local foundry.
