I am privileged to play a new Patterson Knopf. The sound is gorgeous, and passages are soft and warm from below the staff to above. But it can soar and shout when it has to, which I did not expect from its size. My own wrap has a yellow brass frame with nickel silver tubes and a large/medium flare. The utmost attention to detail and the fine art of craftsmanship is abundantly evident in the superior quality of Patterson horns, and Jim, Cora and Phil are pretty neat-o too!
Beautifully crafted horns and fantastic people working there. Bravo Jim, Cora, and company!
I have known Jim and Cora for a long time. They did work on my old 8-D, and while at U of Ore. doing grad work, Jim and friend brought equipment by on their way to play the Haystack Festival. We spent most of a day playing on that equipment. I put their lead pipe on my 8-D That caused me to eventually purchase a Patterson Custom Double Krupse wrap. JPO
Fantastic workmanship! Great folks! Highly recommend without reservation!
Love these horns! Love Jim, Cora and Phil! 10 stars!
Jim & Cora's horns are first rate in terms of quality, ability to fine tune a horn to the purchaser, friendliness and knowledge. His tubing starts as flat sheet brass that he scores, cuts, hammer forms, and braises before finishing them on a mandrel. Whether you are interested in a Kruspe, Geyer, or Knopf design, a great instrument awaits you. H... read more
