Dr. Bortz was thorough in his explanations and listened carefully to my questions. Pleasant, professional demeanor. The surgery experience with him was one of success and without abnormal healing concerns. His office and nursing staff were also pleasant and professional. I recommend him.
Overall, being a patient of Dr. Bortz was a good experience. He took extra time to discuss the procedure and answer my questions. The outcome of the surgery was better than I expected. He’s trained on robotic surgery which, I believe, reduced my recovery timeline. I would recommend him. If there was one complaint it would be the post surgery visit summary. I wish it had details of next steps as I ease my way back to normal activities.

I went to the ER on December 6th at 11:00 pm. My hernia was incarcerated and I needed surgery ASAP. Dr. Bortz took my case. He tried to reach the surgeon who was scheduled to do my surgery in January but, couldn’t reach her. He did my surgery the next day and repaired both of my hernias. I made a smooth recovery. Based on my experience, he is a very good surgeon.
This was an emergency and the first time I had ever met Dr. Bortz. From the start, he was calm, straightforward, and took the time to explain what was happening, which helped a lot in a stressful situation. The follow-up afterward was just as solid. His office staff checked in once I was home and made scheduling easy. Everything felt well handled and organized, which really matters when you don’t have much notice or time to prepare.
