Doctor Bortz was very knowledgeable and experienced with my situation of need for a difficult surgery. He made me feel comfortable and I was very satisfied with the results of my surgery. I am so grateful for the second opinion referral from my General Practice doctor.
In early July 2026, I was in excruciating pain late at night with a hernia and had to be taken by paramedics to the ER at Scripps Memorial Hospital. I was put on pain meds and antibiotics intravenously and had a Cat scan. Shortly thereafter it was so fortunate for me that Dr. Bortz was on duty and came to see me. He said I needed emergency surgery to repair my hernia but because I was on a blood thinner I needed to not take it for a day and he would perform surgery the next day.
