good environment conducive to learning As a byproduct of the system I feel obligated to review the PAUSD. In retrospect, all though we were not completed prepared to go to college in all aspects, the system did as much as it could to prepare us. The elementary schools are highly rated. Once we hit junior, senior high, the competitive landscape broadens immensely. Not overly strict in any sense, and study material / technology is ahead of the curve.
Mostly excellent schools Palo Alto has a reputation for excellent schools and overall it is well deserved. However, there are some significant differences between the schools and even within a given school. The attitiude is to give each school as much autonomy as possible. This leads to inconsistent curriculum and materials used even at the same school and grade level. So your child's education and experience becomes much more dependent on the teacher and school philosophy (as set by the principal).
