I had cataract surgery by Dr. Cartels in June and July 2025. I have to say that Dr. Hartel was great. That's where the great part ends. Palmetto Opthomology get my business again due to the fact the wait time for office visits, charge for visits, charge for medication and the WORST is the outrageous cost of cataract surgery. The surgery was preformed at Prisma Park Ridge. After the 20 and 25 minute surgery on my eyes, the total amount charged my insurance was $43100.00 for both eyes. Dr. Jennifer Hartel is an Eye Angle. I am a Surgeon. Developed a carat from treatments for Gout. I had just about given up. She was my third consult for cataract surgery. Dr Hartel was the only Ophthalmologist that understood that I want to keep my near tightness and wear glasses. All my work is up close and been wearing glasses since, I was 18 yo. She did an excellent job, was very available and understanding. Fantastic Staff…Highly Recommend!!!

While the doctors and staff are obviously top notch at this practice, the scheduling leaves a LOT to be desired. Regular patients shouldn't be scheduled at all on Tuesday mornings. The wait is crazy and I'm certain the techs are taking the flak. It reminds me why I stopped going years ago. Gotta find a new way, guys!!

Absolutely terrible, sitting in the waiting room almost a hour now. People coming in way after me are being seen. If you have all day it might be ok. But I'm on my lunch break.
