I went to 3 different top rated jewellery stores to get my wife's engagment ring that had a broken opal swapped to a blue sapphire we had. All 3 stores turned me away stating it was too difficult to change the setting from a flat opal stone to a stone that was multi-faceted and basically the whole ring would need to be remade.
