When you pull up a chair to enjoy our classic country meals, we hope you'll taste the difference right away. Freshly made, flavorful meals is a sign of true Southern hospitality, so we use quality ingredients and recipes some folks might call timetested and traditional like our handcut fries, country green beans and home made chili. Great food, homey atmosphere. As a child my father traveled the state on business and we used to stop for lunch in little cafes like this all over Arkansas. This is one of very few original old style cafes left, and well worth a stop, even if it's a detour off your route! I had the day's special, a chicken-fried steak that was tender and juicy with a nice crispy batter that wasn't too thick (I'm sure you've seen those tough dry things that are mostly batter passed off as chicken fried steak) and very tasty. Best tenderloin sandwich Johnny Kelly and I ever ate, ever. Loin was not too thin, well seasoned with light coating, just delicious. Service was great, very friendly and helpful. We will be telling our friends to be sure to stop in and enjoy.
