Ask the cost of each service before rendered. Make it very clear what you want / don't want. A simple check of a rash and a Rx gets a list of other tests, creams, "services" etc and the bill runs to $300 real quick. Make it clear up front what you will and will not pay for or you might be quite surprised at a costly bill.
I am sorry to hear that you had a bad experience at OVH. Every time I have gone there it has been a wonderful experience. My dogs absolutely love Dr Mease and the other 2 doctors there. The staff is always courteous and helpful. They are a great practice and I would recommend them for anyone! They always accommodate for my financial restraints so that my pets are treated with the best care possible!
I saved up $400 to take my cat for a tumor to be checked and hopefully enough to treat her. The doctor to a culture and told me she'd send it out. When I got to the front desk, my bill was almost $300 for the visit and a tube of cream. I had to decline sending the culture out because it was $150 of the bill.
