Ownwell has done well again. Very professional and responsive as I have been doing business with them for a couple years now.
1st time I used them, I got the lowered tax rate before taxes were due. This time, I submitted both my properties. One they said it was taxed appropriately. The other,Im still waiting, I already had to pay the first 6 months of inflated property tax. They send me a monthly reminder that they are still working on it.
No personalization. Nobody knows specifics about your property. If you like hiring an attorney online or a CPA online and never talking to them or discussing the individual characteristics that affect you and your property- this is it.
They sent me an ad with my property address and value on the front for everyone to see! This should be considered illegal! Such a careless company should not be in business!
The postcard type advertising flyer that I received in the mail showed my property address and the County assessed value for all to see. This was for property I own in a different state. I know my rural mail carrier and am furious that this personal financial information was exposed.
They do a horrible job and then you can't get them to cancel the service the next year even with repeated communications.
Two things that I do not like about their service: 1) I had to file a special form to get my county in ***** to release them as a "tax agent" of my property in my county's records;2) Instead of reducing my taxes on my residence, they, without knowing it, increased it. They did this by reporting a lower appraised value, however, it was still higher than my taxable value (in *****, a succeeding year's taxable value cannot be higher than 10% of the previous year's taxable value. I have done my own protests for the last 20 years and it takes time and effort. I tried Ownwell for the first time last year for 2 properties and they did a great job! They saved me significant dollars on properties I was unable to get the county to budge on in the past. They are also very responsive to e-mails and transparent. Other companies that do this charge more, I will go with Ownwell again this year for sure!
Aside from pictures with my ****s outdated kitchen (very bad shape) and bathroom, my cracked driveway and garage slab, i also included an offer for the house for $290K !!It took them almost a year to get back to me.They reduced the value of my house from $390K to $380K. Whoopteedoo!A complete waste of my time -- and theirs i might add!This is not a personal attack on them but if that is the best they can do, really why bother?
