Overnight stay and was absolutely wonderful for us. Cookies and popcorn was a nice surprise for the evening and breakfast was certainly adequate. For the price we were pleasantly surprised. Very clean and Susan was friendly and helpful at checkout. Check in and check out are done through a kiosk.
2 visits: One Great and the Other a Disaster Our first trip went smoothly and we were even given an upgrade due to our original linens being dirty. We appreciated it and this review was originally 5 stars especially for Rio’s service in particular. HOWEVER Our second visit was a disaster. I got a room on the third floor, and the entire hallway smelled really bad. My room also smelled terrible. The odor was so strong that i felt nauseous and had to vomit. Because of the smell and the noise, we couldn’t sleep. There were loud noises coming from the other room. Kids were running around until almost midnight, and the room was not soundproof at all. Cool concept and comfortable well appointed rooms. It feels like they are still getting set up. Once everything is in order, it should be great. Checking in was an interesting but frictionless experience, as I had never used a virtual check in through a screen. It went fast, though. The rooms are a bit noisy as the walls are thin, but I slept well once the hotel settled down. Good location either way a beach access very close.
We had a last-minute change of plans with our beach trip. We initially booked on Expedia but had an error. DJ was on duty at 2 am and was amazing. He helped fix the Expedia error, and accommodated us into the gem hotel. Check in was a breeze. Breakfast selection was perfect & 5pm cookies were on point!
