This bar and grill in downtown Salt Lake has become a local staple for all the good stuff. Recently remodelled to include a fine sushi restaurant, you can choose to play casual in the bar side with some friends, or dine on the fresh sushi in town. Everything from the bar kitchen is homemade, with a fairly extensive menu. The beer-battered fish and chips are a favorite, as is the Reuben sandwich and fish taco. The kitchen closes quite soon, so come early if you want dinner at O' Shucks Bar and Grill.

I've been going there for 6 years and the service is usually great, but lately it has been some of the worst service I've had. Tonight I had to stand up and ask for a drink, then again for food, and once again for the check. I will most likely never go there again, too bad because it use to be one of my favorite spots to go.
Shucks saved my LIFE – So there I am, stuck on long layover in Salt Lake City on a particularly blistering hot July day. And all I want in this great green Earth is to get a cold beer. In Utah. So I take the train downtown, and happened to LITERALLY STUMBLE into a hole in the ground (Keep your eyes peeled for it. The place is underground. Again, literally). As I was soon to discover, it was to my good fortune. The hole contained O'Shucks. I asked the bartender for a Pabst. He asks how big. I say big. He proceeds to give me a... read more
Good Sushi, Great Beer, Nuff said? – I'll make this quick and simple: 1) The Sushi is good quality, prepared well, and tastes great 2) The beer selection is great 3) On Wednesday nights you can get a schooner of beer for $3 4) Great atmosphere, fun and hip There ya go!
Horrible Service!!!! – HORRIBLE SERVICE! Me and my wife wanted to check out a new place for Sushi. The guy checked my I.D. 27 ("understandable") my wife 25 didn't have hers. I assured him we only wanted Sushi and wouldn't be drinking. In a rude manner he turned us away... Still understandable but as we walked away we saw a ten-year-old girl sitting with her family at the Sushi bar! If you're going to open your bar to a ten-year-old you can let some nearly thirty-year-olds in for Sushi! We won't be returning!
Where's my waiter? – I just had a really frustrating experience at O'Shucks Bar. The place was practically empty and still the waiter managed to avoid our table for the bulk of the evening. He forgot about several of the people in our party of 7 never bringing them their drinks. We eventually went up ourselves to get them. In addition when we asked the manager for assistance she was short with us and didn't offer to help. The food was great and so was the atmosphere but even the best food and beer isn't worth this kinda wait... read more
Fun bar – They have good sushi, the bartenders are nice, and there's a pretty good beer selection. I'd probably avoid wednesdays unless you get there really, really early. It's fun and has good music. nice place to go with friends.
Nice atmosphere, even though smoky – This is probably my favorite bar in Salt Lake. The bartenders are attentive and really friendly. The waitresses are all hot, and they all (bartenders and waitresses) seem to spend considerable time hanging out at the bar on their time off; this is a good sign. It's nice to stop by and have a sushi roll and a few goblets of beer, both right at the bar. It's rarely crowded except on Wednesday nights, which I usually avoid.
User review by steffwood – A great local hangout, I frequent it all the time and know everyone there. The sushi is really very good and don't forget your beer schooners too!!
It was better. – Yes, it was, when O'Shucks was not a sushi place, but looked like an Irish pub. There were a local bands sometimes, it was crowdy, but not every day. Now it's became more popular, and sometimes it's difficult to find a place. Service of the waitresses sometimes could be really bad - maybe she was tired. Good collection of beer, though lack of draft lagers could be seeing immediately.
