I am very disappointed in Saint Elizabeth Medical Center in Peru, Illinois. My mother was transferred there for surgery on a sore on her behind. On February 11, 2026., from Ottawa, Saint Elizabeth, Medical Center, within 20 minutes of being at the Saint Elizabeth Medical Center in Peru, not even comfortable in her bed yet the doctor that was on duty I won’t say his name here, but I know his name the nurse practitioner that was working. While I can forgive busyness I can’t forgive a complete lack of empathy when someone is crying and writhing in pain and the 2 young ER nurses give you major attitude and one even makes faces. I could go into my story but it’s just not worth it. Bypass this hospital for any emergency!!! It doesn’t matter how long you’ve waited or if your primary doctor called over beforehand with extreme concern at how your situation was unfolding. I here to state that you need to becareful of putting your loved ones in the care if this hospital!! She was sent there for a minor surgery on back side! And doc canceled it and decided she was old and we needed to just let her die ! Then preceeded in giving her way to much of the wrong drugs ! Dehydrated her to the piont of no return! Many mistakes were done to her ! But gets me the most is that they left her without food for entire stay approximation of 10 to 12 days ! With nutrition at all ! I would like to know how a patient is transferred in for routine surgery from Ottawa Illinois and it's told from day one that she's old and she's had a good life we need to let her die absolutely 100% shoved morphine down the family left for 14 days with no feeding tube no water our family got to watch my grandma starve to death... The 5 stars is for Jason at the ER front desk in Peru. Our past experiences with other employees in that position left us cold and frankly they seemed annoyed and angry. But Jason on Feb 22nd redeemed OSF, which I'm sure is not part of his job description. The company is not well liked in this area and a representative like him helps their image. All the plaques posted everywhere that say Compassion, Serving With Greatest Care and Love, Excellence, mean nothing until you actually see them personified.
