Every time I'm in Sacramento, Osaka-ya is a must stop! I've been going there for years, never disappointed always happy to get the best mochi! I'll never stop going. My mother would take me and now I take my daughter and granddaughters. It's a family tradition!!!
The best in CALIFORNIA ~ Mochi, Manju, Sushi, Shave Ice. The Mochi & Manju will last 3-4 days. The texture is so light and very delicious (not sweet at all). I was brought up the old Japanese tradition, and I've ate hundreds of mochi, manju and sushi. Osaka Ya can't be beaten, they follow the traditional way of making their products. You will love it I promise you!
Mochi was pretty good. Peanut butter filled mochi was surprisingly good. White bean filled mochi was good too. Shaved ice was just okay. My daughter's blue raspberry wasn't very good (she usually LOVES blue raspberry anything)
Great Peanut Butter and Chocolate Mochi, with chocolate chunks in them. Their snow cones are the antidote to cool down a sizzling Sactown day.
Our childhood memories are of swimming at Southside pool and getting tasty snowcone treats on many hot summer days at Osaka Ya. We just lived a block away on 9th & W, so we were there a lot! We still go for the snowcones, as well as the Mochi and pastries. Really happy it's still in business! It's the BEST!
