I still cannot believe that my GORGEOUS San Francisco has the two worst theaters. If you survive the stench of Civic Street BART and the hundreds of unfortunate homeless people in order to get there, then you can survive the long lines, uncomfortable seats, and sometimes rude staff of the Orpheum. Something Rotten was FABULOUS. The Orpheum was not! PS. There was an "interesting" drug deal going down right in front of the theater. Disgusting. Mayor Lee let's do something about this. Time for a new Theatre.
We've enjoyed many of the shows here. Nice that it's in our backyard. My only issue is some of the seats are very tight and not very comfortable. I understand that it's an old theater, but at some of the prices we pay, maybe it's time for an upgrade.
I agree! Voices were clear and the singing admirable! You really could follow the story. The television advertisement didn't give me a clear sense of what the musical was about, so I had to ask friends who attended it. They raved about it! Three times the audience clapped so long and hard that it felt like they needed encores. (Actually, once there was an encore written in the play.) It was very cleverly written.
