I cannot believe you are banning showing the movie Gone With the Wind on the lame theory it is offensive. Now we are banning movies, removing statutes that represent our history. The world is so obsessed with offending one person for "insensitivity" it is pathetic. You are so wrong and so lame for removing showing this movie after showing it for 34 years!! WTH!
One of my first movie-going experiences was of my Dad taking me as a child to see The Wizard of Oz at The Orpheum. Over the years, I've seen everything from Casablanca and Psycho to Citizen Kane and Gone with the Wind. You've also hosted Camp Mending Hearts, a day camp for children who lost a parent. My daughter attended and, in addition to discovering her love of theater, she found comfort and help with her grief. Thank you.
The Orpheum Theatre is a Memphis treasure!! World-class quality in everything that they do -- from theatrical productions to theatre education to concerts and movies to special camps for very special children. So proud to live in a city with an organization so dedicated to enhancing lives through the arts!!
