The Orpheum Theatre is one of my most favorite venues to see live theatre. Seeing touring shows there made me want to get into the profession I am in today. The Memphis theatre community is simply the best. The staff is exceptional and the work the new Halloran center is doing is the best! Those high school kids are so lucky to take master classes with the pros!
The Orpheum is not only a beautiful historic theatre that hosts some of the best Broadway musicals, it is also a first-class institution that educates as well as entertains.
While I do not agree and am totally against with the decision to ban any film, music, art, etc., I find it very interesting that the right saying this is about "crybaby liberals who hate free speech" or "you can't change history." They must forget about how many time conservative Christians groups have boycotted and made threats against others for their art. A gorgeous, historic theatre that provides community education for children, high school students and adults. They bring Broadway to Memphis and are consistently forward-thinking and progressive.
To stop showing a historical film Gone With The Wind after 34 years is absurd. Do not support this Theatre
