Dr. Rubin refused to see a 53 year old woman living in an assisted living facility as a patient because a family member with 'day-to-day' knowledge of her condition could not accompany her to the consultation. As her Power of Attorney, I explained that she had no family that was medically able to accompany her to a visit, I live in another state, and no one fits in the patient's life has day-to-day knowledge of her condition (other than me by phone) because she is in assisted living.
