Zero stars, couldn't submit this without giving 1 star. Far and away the most incompetent institution I've ever dealt with. Applied for a VA home mortgage in late Dec 2019. It should have closed within 30 days. I was working through a mortgage broker. The underwriter kept requiring insane conditions and asked for a mountain of documentation. When I provided some documents as requested, she wanted them signed. I signed them, sent them back but nooooo, my wife needed to sign them also. Can't understand why that couldn't be sti... read more

I absolutely can't believe that Flagstar can have a good BBB rating when the customer reviews are overwhelmingly negative for good reason. I have never experienced such incompetence. My payments and the forms I send them (and I started tracking them) arrive in an average of two days but their correspondence takes over 10 days. I believe they are purposefully backdating correspondence which always makes things out of synch. Further, I have had to prove that I have submitted paperwork multiple times, at one point, I had an hon... read more

Instead of offering deferments they have a terrible forbearance plan for Covid-19. This program provides a 6 month forbearance for eligible opt-in customers. At the end of 6 months you'll need to make all 6 payments or break payments up to pay in addition to your normal monthly payment. If you are unable to there's a third option that they are being extremely vague about.

My mortgage lender sold my highly rated mortgage to this less than zero star outfit in August 2018. Between August 2018 and December 2018, I placed over 12 documented calls to try to resolve why this bank had purchased outrageously expensive flood insurance on my behalf, although I had adequate coverage through another policy. I sent copies of the insurance through registered mail, uploaded copies through their website, spoke and recorded conversations with multiple agents and supervisors to no avail. They continued to charg... read more

they doubled up on mortgage payments for months. even after contacting customer service nothing has been rectified. where is all that extra money and why is it not being applied to my payments? on line banking is not corresponding either. starting to feel like Wells Fargo!

Flagstar purchased my bank account from Wells Fargo. Since I'm in the military, I deployed to a contingency operation and since I was gone they charged me for not using my account. Once they had taken all the money in it, they charged me $6 a day. So by the time I redeployed to the US I had an account in collections. I called and recieved the worst customer service, they told me that it's my fault for being in the military and that I just have to pay the debt collector.

My account was overdrawn (which I knew and planned on depositing the money) and they withdrew every penny from my daughter’s account. When I called to complain, I was basically told to screw myself and I’m pretty upset by this kind of banking. I will never refer anyone to Flagstar nor will I continue to bank with them.

Our mortgage was sold to this bank, which was beyond our control. We began making payments using Bill Pay by Wells Fargo. The first two payments were sent and processed within 3-5 days, which is reasonable. One of these payments was processed over the Christmas holiday with no issue. Our third payment was sent to Flagstar at the same time the previous payments were sent and the payment was not processed until almost a week and half later! This put us past the 30th of the month and Flagstar notified the credit bureau immediat... read more

I would give them ZERO stars if I could. - Their website won't let me log on (after changing the password multiple times) and no one has fixed it. - I've had to go through my personal bank because Flagstar doesn't seem to want my money but they aren't the ones who get dinged when my mortgage is late (because their customer service is almost non-existent). - If I do not get this matter fixed with them, I will file an official complaint with them, although I don' think it will do anything. - I don't respect a business that won... read more
