I'm a breast cancer patient and on July 1 I received a bill which I paid in full. Today is Monday, Sept 17 and I recieved a letter and bill from a collection company for $247.00 which I had not received at all before. With all of the bills coming in for my cancer treatment I have been extremely diligent about paying either 100% as they come in.. or calling and making a payment arrangement. Ridiculous. They made an error in billing and charged me instead of my insurance. After explaining the situation they still reported me to Equifax causing my FICO to drop. I spoke to one of their representatives who informed me that it was their mistake, BUT, they were "unable" to report the mistake until the bill is settled. Unprofessional.
