This was the first place I visited after returning to Los Angeles and completing my 100-country journey. A friend invited me here to celebrate the milestone. From the outside, I almost thought the restaurant was still under construction. Inside, however, it was full of energy, and every seat was occupied. The omakase was excellent, the service was smooth, and by the end of the evening, I understood why people are willing to wait for a table here. Love this 😀 Ootoro Walnut is one of the best sushi restaurants in California. The fish is extremely fresh. Service is always good. Servers kept refilling my hot green tea.
The food was solid, but the service was a total disaster. One female server was incredibly rude and impatient, taking our orders with an interrogating tone that made us feel unwelcome. To top it off, we were handed the bill at 8:30 PM—a full hour before the 9:30 PM closing time—without us even asking for it. For a dinner that cost $169 for two (with no discounts or happy hour deals), this level of service is unacceptable. It wasn't a free meal, yet we were treated like a nuisance.
