I scheduled an appointment on 12-15 at 12:30 to donate Whole Blood by PetSmart in Taylors. THEY NEVER SHOWED UP!!! They never called to say they weren't coming! I lost an hour of my time/pay at work for nothing, plus over another hour to donate with Blood Connection who did show up! Thank you Blood Connection for being in the area, so I could donate! Never use One Blood!!
Not recommended. Use the bloodmobile bc this company is shortchanging people. 20 instead of 70 to 100 payout is insane. The Red Cross personnel are fully qualified and capable. Not recommended.
I started donating at the Woodruff Road location at the beginning of the year and I am very impressed with the facility, staff, incentives, and process. Every visit, I am greeted with a smile and a thank you for donating. The facility is spotless and all of the phlebotomists are knowledgeable and friendly. I love that after every donation, I receive stats for my blood pressure, cholesterol, and iron through the donation portal. I had not donated in years due to fear. I have very difficult veins that most can’t find. When I donated, T’Andra took the time to find the best vein. When she stuck me I didn’t feel it and she got it the first time, which never happens! T’Andra has made me a donor for life.
I am a universal donor with 20+ years of consistent donations. I attempted to donate with One Blood's mobile unit. Throughout the donation, the phlebotomist moved/adjusted the needle. This was painful. After 20 mins, my flow was too slow and I missed the donation minimum by less than 10 grams. The supervisor told me my blood would be thrown out. I was never offered water, juice or a snack. The experience left me light headed and bruised.
