No one likes the idea of needles, and as we are very nervous around them… The entire staff here at Cooper City (Gercy, Betsy, and Janette) made our blood donating experience from start to finish the most comfortable and the most fun I’ve ever had giving blood! I had a great experience donating blood at OneBlood. I didn’t have an appointment and was still able to walk right in. The process was quick, easy, and very smooth. Sean helped me during my visit, and he was super nice, knowledgeable, and made the whole experience smooth. Give that guy a raise.
I recently attempted to donate at a OneBlood mobile “Big Red Bus” blood drive and had a concerning experience. Instead of the usual finger-stick test, a non-invasive thumb device was used to check hemoglobin. The reading came back at 6.9, and I was told twice that my “iron was 6.9,” without any explanation that this was a screening estimate or that the device can sometimes be inaccurate.
