I have just had 24 hours without my scheduled pain medication because my pharmacy told the nurse that it wasn't covered by my insurance. I would have paid privately if I had known they weren't going to send it, but they did not communicate this to me. My mother was forced to use Omnicare's prescription service when she moved to a new care facility. She'd previously been using a local pharmacy, but the new facility mandated Omnicare. Her supplemental Medicare insurance always covered 100% of the cost. Not Omnicare. Her monthly bills after insurance-ranged from $700-1300. We moved her to a different facility in part because we could not afford to keep here where she was if her prescriptions were going to cost another $10-12,000 per year.
