Family owned and operated, lovely old NOLA,envokes Anne Rice, great location, affordable. – Have stayed their quite a few times, first recommended by the VCPD a long time ago, we were so pleased after staying in a chain the year before. The prices are reasonable considering their location, walking distance of everywhere. It does need a little TLC,but so does my home.We could invite guests over for dinner in the court yard, Petunias[ a restaurant aroung the corner ] catered for us.We have an amusing storie of the elavator [ drunke... read more

Run-down shame – Wanting to get away from cookie-cutter chain hotels and experience an old-world style hotel in the French Quarter, we booked one of the pricier suites at Olivier House. When we first walked in, we were excited - our suite had a large living room and equally large bedroom, both with floor to ceiling windows leading out to a huge balcony. Then, we looked more closely. The molding on the doorways and around the windows was filthy - there was a layer of dust just as old as the hotel it was in. The bed swayed bac... read more

Bethy – After reading some fairly negative reviews by other people posted on this site, I felt compelled to offer my opinion on the Olivier House. This hotel was everything I love about New Orleans....old, funky, inviting, mysterious. If you are a lover of antiques, this place had some incredible pieces. We spent several afternoons sitting in the lush courtyard, only to witness various people wandering in off the street and marveling at how beautiful the foyer and courtyards were. Bravo! I am so glad that I went with my gut ... read more

Noble Neglect – Don't let neglect in the title mislead you. My girlfriend and I, visiting from New York, stayed here for 5 days in July and loved this hotel. It is centrally located and the staff was really helpful and friendly. If you expect to stay in a place that is like any other hotel anywhere else, then this place is not for you. But if you want an experience that hints at the French Quarter's bohemian history, then stay here. It was like living in a old plantation (think Bel Reve). We loved it. Stay here and let the r... read more

DON'T MISS THIS GEM!! – Without a doubt the most divine place to stay in the French Quarter. I have never felt so "at home" while away from home. The atmosphere is incredibly romantic and is the epitome of why I love New Orleans so much!

The Worst! – This place, for all its supposed charm is more like a dump. The parrot in the courtyard--iwas cute but that's definitely not worth the price of admission! The staff was quite pleasant, but our rooms were FREEZING and there was never anything done about it! This is too bad since the Olivir House itself is beautiful but in a horrid state of repair!!
