World Class Institute Long gone is the Alameda Fun Land, replaced by the Southshore Shopping Mall. Long gone is the Alameda Naval Air Station, it looks like the Adromedon Strain hit the place. Tillie's Tempting food could puke a buzzard off a gut wagon. You'd have had to been a night crawler to remember Johnny's Locker. I love Ole's Ole's is a great restaurant. My family has been going there for years. My grandparents went there when they were dating back in the 1950's. They have great waffles. I love their biscuits and gravy. They are one of the only places that I actually like their coffee. I family tradition that I plan to keep alive.
Great breakfast! – Be prepared to wait, because there is always a good twenty minute line for breakfast. It is worth the wait! The waitresses are promt and friendly. The menu has a great selection. The food arrives as quick as the cooks can prepare it. The portions are generous (and delicious) and the prices are fair.
Like walking into a '50's diner. Great food! – I'm glad they haven't updated their interior. It's really like walking back in time. The southern fares, Waffles, Biscuits and Gravy, and general breakfasts are delicious. Recommend it.
Nice Diner This is a great place to go to have breakfast in Alameda. If you like basic eggs, waffles and pancakes, you can't go wrong. Nothing out of this world about the place, but you can expect to stand in line any weekend morning for a while waiting for a seat.
Good Old School Grub w/Old School Atmosphere – The omlettes, cornedbeef hash and waffles with ice cream are really good, but the interiors needs some help and updating. Everything feels greased up and uncomfortable. It's a time warp in there!
Should You Beleive the Hype? If you drive down Park Boulevard during the weekend, you're likely to see a group of people standing in line in front of Ole's Waffle Shop in Alameda. You're thinking, the food must be great if the line's out the door! Yes and no. The waffles are quite legendary (there was a brief mention of them in an old, old issue of Sunset magazine) - and don't get me wrong, they are quite a creamy delightful conversation piece... but everything else at Ole's is just OK.
Great food! – I love Ole's other than the wait which can be long. I have been eating here for over 20 years and the food has been the same good consistency and quality all this time! The waffles are great!
All Around Great Spot – The decor hasnt been updated for at least 20 years which adds to its charm. The food is excellent. DEFINITELY have the "broasted" chicken or their super light waffles ever. The service is always fantastic and delivered by friendly staff who make you feel welcome.
