good atmosphere, below average service – We really enjoyed the atmosphere and the hotel is gorgeous. We found the service to be average. We feel that for a restuarant of this caliber the service should have been more attentive. We had to wait for our order to be taken, dirty dishes to be removed, etc. The waiters seemed to be spread thin this evening. Deviant – exceptional, phenomal and deviant! The Gay Lord Palms offer a court with many different themes including Key West, Everglades, St. Augustine and etc. From alligators to castles all in one court you may feel as though the atmosphere can't get any better, but ah, there's more, Old Hickory. This is REALLY good ...!!! – I have dined at Old Hickory Steakhouse and cannot for the life of me understand why it is called a STEAK house ... it is an EVERYTHING house! The steaks are fantastic, and the seafood is divine! Try the Shrimp cocktail and you will gawk at the SIZE of these shrimp... they must go 6-8 to the pound. An exquisite dining experience! – Of the finer steakhouses in greater Orlando, Old Hickory has, by far, the best atmosphere. The service is professional, attentive and extremely helpful in offering choices of wine. The menu is impressive-On my first visit, I enjoyed the Filet, a fine piece of steak offered with a choice of sauce. On my second visit, I opted for the Capon breast which was equally delectable. Wow, a really superb meal – My husband likes a steak, and it's hard to get him excited about anything. This man went crazy over his meal. He had the New York Strip, and he said it was the best he'd ever had. Maybe it was the environment. This place is a really cool location. My lobster tail was great as well. We tried their cheese course, which was interesting and a fun end to the meal. I'd recommend this to my friends for a nice meal... probably for an anniversary or a special occasion. OOOps – Just not a good experience either visit. Steak was way below par and service was poor. Not up to the standards of a true steak house. If you are looking for a generic experience with mediocre food than this place is okay.
