My family and friends enjoy Oishi's hibachi. We go often to celebrate birthdays and will go again this evening for two March birthdays. I'm sure we will be happy with the food and service. I always order the fillet mignon - yummy! They use a great cut of meat. Also love the ginger dressing on the salad. (The zucchini gets pushed to the side of the plate, but that's all.) I placed a special order of sweet potato tempura and the staff were happy to accommodate my request. Last time, the chef was "Sam." He was great! Looking fo... read more
We have eaten here for sushi lunched and hibachi dinners and we are never disappointed. The sushi is very fresh and if you like spicy mayo, ask for a side of it, it's a great combo of ingredients that you mix yourself in a little bowl. The hibachi side is better than most we have been to and worth a visit!
Birthday Luncheon – My luncheon today at Oishi's with my nine year old grandson and his friend was fun. I learned the manager and the chef are from Thailand. I telephoned in the morning and made a reservation for three on their voice recorder. Later someone returned my call, and assured me that they would do the onion volcano trick, etc. We arrived around noon and were the only ones seated in the teppanyaki area, so we had all the attention of Pat, the chef. The manager told me they normally do not do the tricks for the noon... read more
Hokey Restaurant – We as a couple sat with four kids and their parents. the chef was more concerned with entertaining the kids than preparing our meal. Everything is prepared one thing at a time, so you do not get to eat your vegetables and grilled mushrooms with your entree. As the chef was flipping pieces of chicken into kids mouths, our chichen was burning and the mushrooms got charred. Yuck! No one likes dried out chicken and burnt mushrooms. The chef then gave out all the large pieces of chicken to people who didn"t eve... read more
Good Help is Hard to Get – The cooks always turn the heat up high and cook eveything too fast. This has happened 4 out of 6 visits. There are two good Chefs there. The others could use some training. Customer service was something I'd expect at a lower cost eatery.
OK – 7 of us spent $200 plus tip on dinner on the Hibachi grill side. 3 of those 7 were kids. The sushi isn't the best we've had. Nippon Tei is. The grill was fun and entertaining. The kids had fun and the chef was awesome. The food from the grill was pretty good, not the best. Seemed to be a little chincy with portions. I doubt we'll go back. We'll try something different next time.
This place is "Oishii" – Like its name implies, this restaurant is "very delicious". Both my husband (German-Missourian) and I (Japanese yonsei) enjoy their sushi and their service. Their prices are comparable to a meal at Red Lobster, Olive Garden, etc. We haven't tried the steakhouse side, but heard it's just as wonderful. If you want a meal that leaves your hunger satisfied without the heaviness, give Oishii a try.
Yikes – When it had first opened, a friend and I decided to have lunch there to try it out.....We both ordered meals at the hibachi table and a couple rolls of sushi. The sushi was pretty good, but on the other hand the food was TERRIBLE. Probally the worst hibachi I've ever had. Plus, you have to pay extra for fried rice, just like Kobe. Our bill came to about 60 dollars....For lunch!?? I recommend Shogun in St. Charles alllll way. Take it from a real Japanese.
Great food, excellent service. – Great place! I am the State Senator here, so you can look me up and verify that this is no phony review. Anyway, if you cannot trust a politician... My wife and I were difficult. We sat on the sushi side and asked to switch to the steakhouse side. Then we asked to use a coupon that was recently expired. No problem. They were gracious and polite every step of the way without being obnoxious. Refreshing. My favorite spot is Tom Sehnert's place, but my wife loves sushi. They make a great Califor... read more
