I have been seeing Dr. Brett Odum since the first day he stepped foot into HMG many years ago so let me just say this. He is indeed an excellent doctor but his personality, empathy and genuine care for his patients puts him heads above the rest and earns him the excellent reviews that he has earned on multiple sites. Have seen Dr Odum 4 times in past year and never been on examination table. I'm 75 years old with diabetes and he failed to request A1C after at least 5 months between visits. He never listens to my heart, lungs or stomach as well as never looking at my eyes, ears and mouth. I am going to find someone else to see. I'm too old with too many health issues to trust it to a good old boy Dr. I agree he's a friendly guy, but I need medical care whatever the demeanor of the Dr.

Over a year, Odum failed to refer the pt to a Dermatologist to address a skin tumor on the head, citing that it was ONLY a cyst, and it is normal for it to swell and go down. The tumor grew to the size of a ping pong ball, split open, drained, and had a foul smell. Odum saw this tumor multiple times. When forced to refer the pt, Odum failed to get an appt. with Derm until Jan 2025. Again, forced by family, Odum sent pt to a surgeon. Biopsy showed cancer. Family removed pt from Odum's care. My mother was visiting me in NC and her CPAP machine stopped working. I called the office and spoke with someone immediately. She took my info and the call was returned in about an hour!! I had found a local office that could help us if Dr Odum's office could provide some info. Nicole was very helpful.

Frightening — if Dr Odum is your physician, be aware that your care will be handed off to nurses and office staff. I contacted him via the portal when I was experiencing what turned out to be a dangerous medical condition. Dr Odum never read my message, no one from his office contacted me, and when I reached out again, Dr Odum informed me that it wasn’t his fault because he “didn’t know anything” about me. He’d been my doctor for a year at that time. Do not trust this man with your life.
