Javalina Cantina in Hilside es mejor – Caters to unknowing tourists. Don't try it just because of its location in uptown. If you want mexican food that is more upscale, go to Javalina Cantina at the Hillside Shops along Hwy 179 or El Rincon inside Tlequapaue

Business response:

I am sorry to hear you're unhappy with Oaxaca. Can you please give me a bit more detail as to what you don't like so we can improve on it? We really do try to take customer response into consideration. Please email me directly at webmaster@oaxacarestaurant {dot} com. Thank you.

Skip this place – With so many great restaurants to choose from in Sedona, one has to wonder how this place stays in business. The only explanation is that they rely on their location and virtually 100% of their customers are tourists who don't know any better. I decided to give it a try when I first arrived in town and have never been back again. I'm normally a forgiving soul and willing to give second chances, but it really was that bad. I wish CitySearch had an option for no stars.

Yuck, go elsewhere – This is one place in Sedone where I will never eat again. The only thing it has going for it is the location in uptown. I was served a cold steak that was burned on the outside and raw on the inside. Everything was bland and way overpriced.

The BEST Margaritas EVER – I got the best Margarita with a delicious healthy lunch and had a waitress who not only smiled, she told us where the best local hangouts are! TERRIFIC!

Terrible...at best – My husband daughter and I are on a three month road trip of the US. We spent a week here in Sedona. Our budget was tight but we allowed ONE night to treat ourselves to eating out at restaurant. This place is located in the heart of the downtown shopping area. After reading the menu online we felt we could safely assume that it was your typical mexican fare...maybe even nicer....WRONG. First of all my daughter had a FLY in her lemonade. My husband and I ordered two entress that were each about 20 dollars ... read more

Terrible, mediocre food. – Ugh. Don't bother with this place. This is essentially a super-americalized mexican food place, similar to El Torito or Acapulco's. Loud, garish, with food that's not even remotely authentic, just stay away unless you are looking to punish yourself.

Waste of Time and Money-Mediocre – Oaxaca is featured in all the tourist guides for Sedona. Our waiter had no personality, never smiled and seemed to dislike his job. Chips were cold, salsa was not fresh and tasted bad. Hubbie had a taco and cheese enchiladas combo- $12.25.bland. I had beef flaunta and chicken Pollo Fundido combo. The flaunta was overcooked, the Fundido had good flavor, but no sauce. When I asked didn't it come with a sauce, the waiter said no. I just checked the website while writing this review and its sup... read more

For Tourists ONLY! – Nothing in this place is above average and the food is particularly poor. Their customer base consists mostly of tourists, as locals have several other good Mexican restaurant choices in Cottonwood and Sedona.
