About this business
In 1972, Martin Litton sent a young dory guide to Lewiston to expand his fledgling river company, Grand Canyon Dories, into new territory. Since then, OARS Dories has been operating first-class Idaho river trips on the Snake River through Hells Canyon and on the Middle Fork of the Salmon, Main Salmon and the Gorges of the Lower Salmon River.

Great outfit. Lots of history. Amazingly hardworking and attentive guides, but you get to feel part of the trip by doing your own tent and bedding stuff. And they let you help where you can, when you want to. Loved flying into the headwaters for our trip.
The scenery on this trip was truly breathtaking. Rapids were awesome but not threatening. The guides were well qualified. The other guests were terrific. If you are looking for an upscale trip, keep looking. This particular trip was pretty rustic and food was basic.
Had the best time on the river. Great experience and the guides were terrific. I want to go again!
A few days ago I participated in a 6 days/5 nights rafting trip on the Middle Fork of the Salmon river with OARS. It was an all around amazing experience far beyond my expectations. The logistics, communication, guides, food, safety measures, and experiences were all top notch. One of the best trips ever, traveling the Main Salmon with old friends and several new ones!
