We’ve lived in 5 buildings in Chicago, and all of them cheaper and better than Lake and Wells. Living here has been a terrible mistake, and we cannot wait until our lease ends. The most egregious thing is how unbelievably and unacceptably rude the reception staff are. Another review said Towanna was racist to Asians - all I can say is I’m Asian too, and she has been nothing but unpleasant to me. DO NOT SIGN A LEASE HERE!!!! This has been by far the worst apartment building I have lived in while in Chicago. The building effectively does not have Air conditioning (outdated two pipe system, building managers refuse to change over to AC). The windows barely open so you don't get any breeze, and then your apartment just fills with flies. It can be 20 degrees outside and still 85 in your apartment with full windows open. building makes you feel welcome and is slowly getting updated. Very cozy place that makes you feel at home. Staff here is also amazing!
Hot tub was full of gnats. Completely un-usable considering the amenity fee. Pool area often smelled like urine as well.
Would not recommend this building to friends or family, unfortunately. I’ve lived here for a couple of years and have seen a steady decline in the quality of management of this building. I’ll be ending my lease this upcoming renewal. To start, the train noise is quite unbearable, even at high floors. I’ve lived above floor 35 throughout my entire lease and the train noise is constant and LOUD.
